Acton State Historic Site is on Farm Road 167 just outside of Acton and about six miles east of Granbury in northeast Hood County. The .006-acre site comprises only the Crockett family plot in the old Acton Cemetery and in 1949 was placed in the custody of the State Parks Board by legislative act. The significant grave at the site is that of David Crockett's second wife, Elizabeth. The state did not own the site, but the Texas Parks and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department maintained the plot through 2007, and Acton was known as the smallest park in the state park system. Effective January 1, 2008, operational control of Acton State Historic Site was transferred to the Texas Historical Commission.
