Discover Arroyo Alto: A Community in Cameron County

Arroyo Alto is located on Farm Road 506 about two miles south of La Feria and nine miles southwest of Harlingen in southwestern Cameron County. This community, within six miles of the Mexican border, had begun by the 1990s and consists of primarily Hispanic, lower-income families. The first population figures were recorded in the 2000 census when Arroyo Alto reported 320 residents. It is part of the La Feria Independent School District.
