Essays on Texana Collectors and the Creation of Research Libraries

This volume provides an overview of Texana collectors whose materials have either founded or greatly augmented Texas history research institutions. It consists of an overview introduction by the editors which notes among other things the contributions of Earl Vandale and Thomas W. Streeter. Nine subsequent chapters contain one by Texas bibliophile Al Lowman. The rest focus on collectors George A. Hill, Jr., Dr. William E. Howard, Everette L. DeGolyer, Sr., Frank Caldwell, J. Evetts Haley, John Peace, Jenkins and Virginia Garrett, and Dan Kilgore. Collecting Texas was featured at the 2010 Texas Book Festival.
