Colonization Contracts in Texas: Armand Ducos and Alexander Bourgeois d'Orvanne (unknown–unknown)

Armand Ducos, in association with Alexander Bourgeois d'Orvanne, received two colonization contracts from the Republic of Texas. A contract of June 3, 1842, permitted the settlement of 1,200 families or single men in the region of the Uvalde, Frio, and upper Medina rivers, at least one-third of the colonists to be settled within eighteen months. The second contract, dated July 6, 1842, permitted the settlement of 500 families on the Rio Grande between the mouth of the river and Reynosa, Tamaulipas, but no evidence is extant that the grantees located any settlers on either grant.
