Edward Dwyer: Early San Antonio Resident and Mayor (unknown–1854)

Edward Dwyer (Dyer), early San Antonio resident, a brother of Thomas Dwyer, was born in Ireland. He was a partner of William Elliott in San Antonio about 1839. In 1840, with George W. Blow and José Antonio Navarro, he was appointed to investigate fraudulent land claims in the Bexar District. On July 18, 1843, he married Mrs. Marianna Leal Ramón; they had four children. Dwyer was mayor of San Antonio in 1845 and owned a row of buildings facing the site of the present courthouse. He died in San Antonio in April 1854.
