Coats of arms of the Kabardino-Balkar ASSR and of the Mordovian ASSR

(Rephrased from original request) Can You make a SVG for these two coat of arms? Thanks. Youseefr 99 (talk) 04:53, 24 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Youseefr 99 Thank you sincerely for quoting my request. By the way, the vectorized image of the national emblem of Kabardino-Balkar ASSR should be made based on the emblem of Kalmyk ASSR, since the formatting of all text above the shield is closer between the two.  Request taken by Bpmcneilly (talk) 02:31, 17 January 2026 (UTC) - @Boston Mayflower: we should be good on the Mordovian ASSR emblem (or, if there are tweaks we can handle it in the request above), correct? Also, for Kabardino-Balkar emblem, I'm assuming I can use the text in the description of the raster version for my SVG? I'm trying to clarify now because I see some of these other requests mention incorrect text in other emblems.[reply]

No one can help me? --Yeagvr (talk) 18:58, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I am asking you again:
  • Either you actively help work on the requests yourself and edit graphics or create new ones as described by the requesters.
  • Or you submit your own requests.
    • Mass requests are unusual.
    • Normally, new requests are submitted only after the previous one has been completed.
What is not necessary and should therefore be avoided:
  • Marking completed requests for archiving immediately.
  • Intentionally and generally preventing automatic archiving.
  • Taking part in other people’s requests with small talk without contributing anything meaningful: no unsolicited micromanagement. Usually, the requester has the best overview and knowledge of the topic. Usually, they can judge themselves whether the request has been sufficiently fulfilled. And usually, they know which related topics are still open and which do not need further work. It is also normal to give them time to review a completed request and, ideally, trigger the archiving themselves.

Syrian government ministries

[edit]

Article(s): en:Ministry of Interior (Syria) (example)

Request
These are logos of ministries of the Syrian government. Could someone please convert them into SVG format?
The Syrian emblem (the golden eagle) can be taken from here: File:Emblem of Syria.svg.
The text must always be green (even when it is white in the JPG file), specifically this color: #002623.
In some cases, the Syrian emblem and the text are not centered but aligned to the right; however, in the SVG version they should be centered, like all the others.
The only exception is the last logo, which is slightly different from the others and must be kept exactly as it is in the SVG.
In other words, image number 1 can be used as an example of how all the others should be made, except for the last one.
The background must always be transparent. In the SVG, include only the emblem and the text in Arabic and in English.
Thank you very much in advance.--Yeagvr (talk) 20:52, 10 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Victor Campbell's sledge flag

[edit]

(An SVG rendition of the Clan Campbell crest, the boar-and-torse from which could be used in the creation of the new file.)

Article(s): Victor L. A. Campbell, List of Antarctic flags

Request
Could someone please create an SVG file of the sledge flag used by Victor Campbell during the Terra Nova Expedition (1910–1913), shown here? In case certain elements of it aren't clear enough; I believe the lower stripe (below the upper black one) is intended to be yellow, while the colour pattern of the torse under the boar's head is intended to be black-white-red-white-black-white. Thanks. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 09:23, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Snow Lion Fenian: ✓ Done --Mrmw (talk) 18:40, 2 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Mrmw: Thank you for creating this file! Just a few things:
  1. The background of the red cross in the hoist should actually be white instead of yellow, as with the other sledge flags from the Terra Nova Expedition.
  2. The boar's head should be grey rather than gold.
  3. The black-over-yellow bicolour section of the flag should be more elongated.
  4. The top and bottom edges of the flag should be diagonally slanted (like on a triangular swallowtail pennant) rather than completely straight.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks again. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 17:34, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, have you begun working on it? I hope it's not too late since I forgot to mention that the eagle's head was taken from File:Emblem_of_the_Polish_People's_Army_land_forces_(1972)_(2).png and pasted onto .svg eagles from File:POL_Insygnia_Sil_Zbrojnych.svg. Mentioned in Despatches, pre 1920

[edit]

Article(s): no:Trafford Leigh-Mallory, and likely other language versions, possibly many other articles about UK servicemen from World War I.

Request
Would appreciate an SVG version of the pre 1920 device, which was a bronze branch of oak leaves. Read about the device here. A number of photos online which could be helpful in the process of creating the graphics: [1], [2] and [3]. As for the colours, it’s bronze, i.e. the same colours scheme as the 1920–1994 version.
I have tried searching for a file, looked in Category:Oak leaves in art and relevant sub categories, and of course in Category:Mentioned in Despatches, but it seems like this file doesn’t exist. Thanks a lot in advance! 1000mm (talk) 14:14, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The best solution would be if the original icon set creator @Hstoops wants to create it. ᛅᛒᛁᛘᚢᛋ (talk) 12:56, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)
Many countries' flags are not in the set. Can you please justify why the Thai one should be? cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 12:29, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Candidyeoman55: There are about 195 sovereign states. In this category I only see 45 different SVG flag icons. This means that at least about 150 SVGs may still be missing from this set.
I have a few questions for you:
  • What is your connection to this request, and why are you taking part in it without actively helping with the solution?
  • Why are you ignoring the question from @Cmglee: ?
  • What is your mission on this project page, and why are you still making almost daily micro-edits that, in my opinion, bring no benefit and could be avoided? --Mrmw (talk) 11:20, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
1 - These five major countries are missing from the set, so I requested them when I noticed. By the way, Brazil is my home country.
2 - For the Cmglee question, I don't have an answer, nor am I the one who has to answer.
3 - I made a few small edits because sometimes people don't give clear contexts about their requests.
Maybe I should have requested these five flags in a separate request. I said eventually because I don't expect them to be made in the short term. The Vietnam one is also still not done, but I think someone is working on it. If you want, you can move this discussion to the talk page. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 11:37, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Candidyeoman55 seems to have uploaded a substantial number of images (with which I don't find any problems). I just query why having the waving flag icons is important, considering that many users do not like animated thumbnails. cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 14:02, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Candidyeoman55: I do not want to move this to the talk page, because I already tried there to explain the purpose of this project page to you, especially how participation here works. There was no real discussion with you, and you gave no indication that you understood it or that you want to change your behavior.
The examples are very small, but they show that your understanding of this is very limited.
  • Cmglee asked another user why only a few flags should be added to this potentially large set. You expanded that request but did not consider that the same question could also apply to the flags you requested. It does not matter whether you expand an existing request or create a new one. You talk about “major countries”, but who decides when a country is important, and where the exact limit is for a country to stop being important? If you really care about making this set complete, you could make it your own project and try to involve the creator of the existing flags, for example. You could also move it to a subpage of your user page.
  • I already told you that it is not your task to decide which requests are important, difficult, or quick to complete. It is also not your task to change the context of requests made by other users.
Please finally take some real distance from the requests of other users here, especially when you are not helping with the implementation.
If you do not actively help with the work on this project page, then in my opinion your participation here should be limited to creating your own requests, without pushing them.
You are still welcome, now and in the future, to help other users with their requests here. But so far you have not done that.
Please stop trying to manage this project page or the requests of other users. Nobody else here does that, because it is simply not necessary. --Mrmw (talk) 12:21, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Make these images SVGs but check if similar images on the page (and the other 3 pages in the series, linked in the gray box at the top) have already been properly vectorised, to avoid possible inconsistencies with the font and small details, and also to avoid duplicates (in case an identical SVG version already exists and I haven't noticed). Useful categories for simialr signs are Category:Diagrams of historic road signs of Italy, 1969 set and Category:Diagrams of historic road signs of Italy, 1971 set --FaviFake. Alfabeto Normale and Alfabeto Stretto. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 13:19, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, see it:Alfabeto Normale for the 2 fonts. I know nothing about SVGs, but maybe Earthshaker13 might be willing to give more info on how he vectorised other similar italian signs, if he'd like to. FaviFake (talk) 16:28, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Also pinging @Arbalete, who has handled similar types of signs in the past. FaviFake (talk) 17:58, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)
I will probably start to work on the signs in the coming week, but since the quality of these raster images is good, I will probably prioritize creation of the few missing signs from 1971 regulations rather than converting from raster. It should not too complicated since I have the font available from past road sign creations. Note that some of the raster signs are already available (since are the same of the 1969 collection but with a proportional rescaling); I doubt that it is worth recreating identical images --Earthshaker13 (talk) 10:11, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much! I did think that some of these could be identical to similar, already-vectorised signs introduced with the 1969 circular, but i didn't feel confident removing the raster duplicates as I'm not an expert on the subject. FaviFake (talk) 10:35, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Bastruk: one more left
one question about this last file:
I can create it as well.
For PrawOrdynWP oznk rozp (2012).svg, I vectorized all the content myself.
I can also edit PrawOrdynWP odznk pam (2012).png, but only if I should use the elements from PrawOrdynWP oznk rozp (2012).svg without any changes — meaning the figure, the horse, and the dragon. In that case, I would only re-vectorize the background symbols.
If you need a vectorization that exactly matches the original raster image, then someone else would need to do that.
Please let me know, thank you. --Mrmw (talk) 21:58, 28 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It needs to be done without any changes, so I will have to wait for someone else. Nevertheless, thank you very much for the other vectorizations. Bastruk (talk) 22:09, 28 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Try all variations from your data dump
⟨Đ đ⟩, ⟨Ǥ ǥ⟩, ⟨Ŋ⟩ and ⟨Ʒ⟩ aalt
⟨Đ đ⟩, ⟨Ǥ ǥ⟩, ⟨Ŋ⟩ and ⟨Ʒ⟩ case
⟨Đ đ⟩, ⟨Ǥ ǥ⟩, ⟨Ŋ⟩ and ⟨Ʒ⟩ ccmp
⟨Đ đ⟩, ⟨Ǥ ǥ⟩, ⟨Ŋ⟩ and ⟨Ʒ⟩ dlig

⟨Đ đ⟩, ⟨Ǥ ǥ⟩, ⟨Ŋ⟩ and ⟨Ʒ⟩ salt
⟨Đ đ⟩, ⟨Ǥ ǥ⟩, ⟨Ŋ⟩ and ⟨Ʒ⟩ ssty
style="font-feature-settings: 'aalt'" is the big winner and 'salt' gets half right.
See if aalt takes an argument to find the third variant
⟨Đ đ⟩, ⟨Ǥ ǥ⟩, ⟨Ŋ⟩ and ⟨Ʒ⟩
It does. Here are the three 'LATIN CAPITAL LETTER ENG' variants:
Ŋ
Ŋ
Ŋ
These give the expected results for me because I have downloaded DejaVu Serif. They may not look right in other fonts.
Tried at File:SVG alt glyph test.svg. librsvg does not display the variants. Chromium and Firefox do.
Glrx (talk) 22:57, 2 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Glrx: Yes, this way I can show all characters except one: capital letter phonotypic Eng
We have not talked about this one yet. Is there a specific reason for that?
I just saw that there are several forms of “Latin letter Eng.”
How can I display the missing character with DejaVu Serif? ––Mrmw (talk) 10:15, 3 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure about which variant is at issue. Isn't File:Latin capital letter phonotypic Eng.svg the same as DejaVu Serif's style="font-feature-settings: 'aalt' 2"?
If I look at
Fifth Revised Proposal to encode characters for the English Phonotypic Alphabet (EPA) in the UCS https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2024/24277-epa-proposal-fifth-edition.pdf (2024-04-07) page 22 states
  • ﬋: This could be proposed as a separate letter LATIN CAPITAL LETTER REVERSED N WITH INWARDS HOOK, which is not done at this time. Instead, it is unified with U+014A LATIN CAPITAL LETTER ENG, which already includes several different glyph variants.
The letter in that document looks like Ŋ ('aalt' 2).
I just see 3 variants for Ŋ available in DejaVu Serif (am I missing something?), so I do not see how DejaVu Serif can display all the variants in the gallery.

Interacting with this person will only cause this person to keep making new accounts and not addressing or correcting their existing issues (copyright, XWiki abuse). Virtuti Militari and Military Cross (Polish Armed Forces)

[edit]

Article(s): en:Virtuti Militari, pl:Order Virtuti Militari and en:Order of the Military Cross, pl:Order Krzyża WojskowegoCategory:SVG orders of Poland

Request
PDF for #2
  • First, an SVG version of the "Grand Cross Star#5" needs to be created, similar to the way the files were prepared in Category:SVG orders of Poland for other Polish orders. Next, "→Starting Point#2", the sash with the Grand Cross Star inside and the medal attached (using grey-black colors from the references, and the cross from "Insignia #4+5" in black and gold with crown). After that, please adjust the colors of the sash and ribbons, update the medals, and include the newly created Grand Cross (File:Order Virtuti Militari - Gwiazda Krzyża Wielkiego.svg). The elements should be arranged according to the same wearing instructions shown in "Wearing of the insignia of the Virtuti Militari Order (.JPG)".
  • In Military Cross Order case, all elements are already vectorized. There are only three classes (not five), so the placement should correspond to classes 2+3+4 in the Polonia Restituta ("→Starting Point"), meaning: #1 left chest, #2 neck, #3 neck with Grand Cross Star on the left chest.
  • please overwrite the existing files (Ribbon#4 class III, Ribbon#5 class II and Ribbon#6 class I). Replace their current colors with the blue and red used in: Ribbon#1 class III, Ribbon#2 class II and Ribbon#3 class I. This is to ensure color consistency with the vectorized insignia from Request 2 (Wearing of the insignia of the Military Cross) and Request 4 (Rosette)
  • For the 4th request, please extract the rosette from the ribbons (Ribbon#6 class I and Ribbon#5 class II) + based on the same colors vectorize the wstążka

I believe the most difficult part will be vectorizing the "Grand Cross Star#5" from Request 1. The remaining requests should mainly involve copying and pasting elements within the SVG editor and adjusting colors accordingly(?). --Bastruk (talk) 23:53, 27 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

PDF for #1 – Page 3 contains a good flat representation of the Grand Cross Star of Virtuti Militari, hope it helps with the vectorization -- Bastruk (talk) 02:12, 28 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
PDF for #4 – Page 2 contains a higher resolution and newer design of the Ribbon/Wstążka/Wstążeczka -- Bastruk (talk) 02:24, 28 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Request 2 Done @Bastruk: I haven't added a description yet, see if you cant add one in English and Polish, and tell me if you need anything to be done differently with the graphic :) ᛅᛒᛁᛘᚢᛋ (talk) 09:04, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Abemos On position 3, the Grand Cross Star should be on the other side (on the left chest, but from the perspective of the person awarded). Sorry for the confusion Bastruk (talk) 09:12, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Also, something has happened to the buttons, they have shifted outside the outline. Bastruk (talk) 09:14, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Abemos And if the eagle on these awards is just a pasted raster graphic placed onto the vector star/medal, I have found a properly vectorized eagle that you could use instead (the one on Polonia Restituta is the pre-1928 version) → File:Herb Polski.svg Bastruk (talk) 09:32, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I should've fixed the main issues now. The eagle is vectorized and is the one used on the "starting point" svg. I didn't want to use to detailed of a graphic on such a small part of the svg. I can perhaps do something in the middle, using the file you just sent as a starting point? ᛅᛒᛁᛘᚢᛋ (talk) 09:37, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I found a current eagle without details in File:POL Centralne Biuro Antykorupcyjne logo.svg, but you can also simplify yourself the one already used in File:POL Gwiazda Krzyża Wielkiego Orderu Krzyża Wojskowego.svg.
I also think the buttons are still spaced too far apart, now vertically (they are almost touching the bottom, unlike in the original version). Bastruk (talk) 10:20, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I have no clue how i keep missing how much I mess the buttons up😅 I'll fix them again and change the eagle ᛅᛒᛁᛘᚢᛋ (talk) 12:13, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Bastruk: I hope that was the last of my mistakes, it's uploaded now ᛅᛒᛁᛘᚢᛋ (talk) 12:30, 5 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to File:U.S. Army Master Combat Action Badge SVG.svg (brown for gold and grey for silver rule) -- Bastruk (talk) 09:31, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Bastruk: took color for borders from U.S. Army Master Combat Action Badge SVG.svg
but this file from User:MWFwiki is not a real svg, but a fake-svg its just a wraped version of US Army Master Combat Action Badge.png
also Master combat action badge illustration.svg obviously is a fake-svg
Combat Action Badge.svg for example is a real and valid svg

Oh, didn't know that. Should we mark them for deletion to avoid confusion about them being already vectorized? Bastruk (talk) 10:00, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Mrmw Now it's perfect, thank you Bastruk (talk) 10:02, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Bastruk: The deletion requires reasons and is decided case by case.
Just because an SVG is a fake SVG is not enough as a reason.
For U.S. Army Master Combat Action Badge SVG.svg, however, the wrapped raster file exists as a PNG. In that case, I would say the fake SVG should be deleted.
For Master combat action badge illustration.svg, I do not see that a real raster file of the actual image content exists as a duplicate, so I would not delete that file. --Mrmw (talk) 11:00, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, sorry, @Bastruk and @Mrmw; I'm far more active on Wikipedia proper and only occasionally upload things here. I'm not sure what I was doing with the SVGs mentioned above, quite frankly. I would not contest a deletion. In the meantime, I will try to get them updated to be proper SVGs. MWFwiki (talk) 21:16, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Bastruk: I like the many references you found, and was wondering how exactly/what style you want the badge in. Should it be a simple graphic like the -jpg or should it look like a badge as in reference 2. Also, do you think that the font should be outlined like in the jpg, or be filled out like in reference 2, or even be a thin font like the pdf suggests? :) ᛅᛒᛁᛘᚢᛋ (talk) 09:29, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Abemos, I think a simple style like the .jpg, with a 2d representation of the raised 3d text seen in [4] or [6], so it would need some kind of outline. Bastruk (talk) 17:17, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
