Lake Bridgeport: A Brief History and Overview

The town of Lake Bridgeport is located fourteen miles west of Decatur in western Wise County. It began as a development on the eastern shore of Lake Bridgeport, probably by the 1970s. The community incorporated about the late 1970s and reported a population of 271 in 1980. By 2000 the community had 372 residents.
