Edward F. Mitchasson, Alamo defender, was born in Virginia in 1806 and moved to Texas by way of Missouri or Mississippi. He was a doctor. He entered the service of Texas on November 30, 1835, as a private in Captain Edwards's company. It is not known if he served the Texan forces in the capacity of a physician. He was severely wounded in the siege of Bexar. On January 1, 1836, he was listed as a member of Capt. John Chenoweth's company. His wounds may have prevented him from playing an active role in the defense of the Alamo. He died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
