The Tejano Legend Pioneers Organization was established in 2018 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Founded by Eulalio "Lalo" Reyna and Joel Silva, the organization began as informal breakfast gatherings of Tejano musicians who met to reminisce about their experiences and the cultural importance of Tejano music. This single nonprofit group became the first chapter of the organization. A second chapter was established in the Rio Grande Valley. Tejano Legend Pioneers expanded to more cities and regions across Texas, including Austin, San Antonio, Laredo, and Houston, and rapidly grew to include a total of approximately thirty chapters across multiple cities in the United States and Mexico by the mid-2020s. This growth emphasizes the broad influence of and admiration for Tejano music, a musical tradition that originated in the early 1920s and captures a fusion of cultural and musical influences.

The mission of the Tejano Legend Pioneers Organization is to both promote and preserve this generational music by bringing together musicians who have made significant contributions to the legacy of Tejano and Conjunto. Various chapters host gatherings, jam sessions, and award ceremonies to ensure that the efforts of musicians, both past and present, are acknowledged and honored. The Rio Grande Valley Chapter’s Blast From The Past Open Jams Night in Pharr, Texas, in October 2022, for example, celebrated “60 years of Tejano music” with performances by many Tejano artists.

The Tejano Legends Houston Official Chapter 9, led by its president Mike Ramirez, Jr., hosted its first event on June 25, 2023. The gathering paid tribute to both musicians who have passed away and celebrated the achievements of living legends, with the goal to bridge generational gaps and ensure the preservation of this musical legacy. Chapter 9 received a commendation from Texas governor Greg Abbott, and the city of Houston declared  October 20, 2024, as “Tejano Legends Houston Official Day.” Chapter 9 also was honored with a congressional proclamation from the U. S. House of Representatives on January 19, 2025. Tejano Legends Houston partnered with the University of Houston Special Collections to preserve the narratives, music biographies, and photographs of Tejano musicians for future research. Through various initiatives, the Tejano Legend Pioneers chapters have worked to preserve and honor a musical tradition that is essential to both Texan and Mexican culture.
