[edit]Hey 👋 I've a question for you. Are you using the app in multiple tabs at the same time? -- DaxServer (talk) 19:31, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- @DaxServer Hi! Not as I can remember :(. In very few cases, I have an uploading batch and trigger a retry in another batch to retry 2 or 3 failing files, but that's all actually. --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 19:32, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- I made some changes, this time it could be more reliable than the last couple of days 🙈 -- DaxServer (talk) 10:49, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your tireless work, I can check it :) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 12:05, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- I made some more changes, let's give another try 🙈 -- DaxServer (talk) 15:22, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

- Happy to help :)
- I just noticed pattern of the numbers in your username, I think it's cool! -- DaxServer (talk) 19:46, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, it is a palindrome, that contains an equation: 1+3+5=9=5+3+1 ;) (although I saw the equation after the naming :D ) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 20:30, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- @DaxServer Hi! I tested a larger batch with 6490 files l1QCIHNgZvYUfjRse09ybX (Batch #466). Unfortunately, we get the following error:

- I'm looking into the error. There's no function, but I can do a quick hack and set them all as failed, so that they will not be processed. That's a good idea, I'll put that as a feature! Perhaps, can you file a task in Phabricator so we can track that? -- DaxServer (talk) 15:33, 9 January 2026 (UTC)

- Hey, due to a bug, the batch 467 uploaded 827 files under different titles. The bug is fixed but before re-triggering the batch, the files either need to be renamed to their supposed titles - that seems like the easiest solution to me. If you have other ideas, let me know. -- DaxServer (talk) 22:16, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- Actually, looking at the database, it seems 841 of the 6490 files have distinct titles and thus the remaining are failing. It seems they are just genuinely duplicates. The app should also show this error to the user and should only accept different upload titles and images. Seems like the next work item is already in queue for me 😅 -- DaxServer (talk) 22:48, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- @DaxServer It was my fault. The problem is that within one second, several images were taken. I forgot the millisecond parameter in this batch. This is why several files were upload to one filename (549230880699800 and 1687894271665497 were uploaded to "Mapillary (6QhgUkS1vHDp4WfOlVdBT3) (bct) 2023-03-20 17H58M17S.jpg", for example. :) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 09:52, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe we can include parameters like millisecond in the standard template (following by the image ID or so) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 09:53, 10 January 2026 (UTC)

--QICbot (talk) 05:47, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Manche Uploads hatten ja bereits eigene Subkategorien, z.B. "United States".
Ganz herzliche Grüße, -- Radomianin (talk) 21:21, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Help with valued image nomination
[edit]Hello! I've just created this nomination for valued image. I find the instructions terrible confusing, even contradictory. Do you know what's the next step to do, once the nomination page is created? Thanks in advance :) MGeog2022 (talk) 13:40, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- I believe it's done now: it shows in the candidates list. This text was causing confusion to me:
- To complete the nomination:
- Copy the following customized text:
- |{{subst:SUBPAGENAME}}
- Paste the text at the BOTTOM of the Valued image candidate list just above the line that reads, ADD NEW NOMINATIONS ABOVE THIS LINE.
- I didn't do that, and I wasn't able to successfully find the place, but I edited the list as said here and here, and it seems it's OK now. MGeog2022 (talk) 13:50, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- @MGeog2022 Yes I agree. I didn't nominate there for a longer time, as the featured status can change when new images come. But the image shows now on the nom page and the format seems to fit. Good job :) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 13:56, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for your quick response! Good, so it's OK now, then. MGeog2022 (talk) 13:58, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

Die liegt momentan unter Satellite pictures of the United States. Was meinst Du dazu?
--PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 13:04, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

Would you be interested in importing some media?
[edit]Most of the content on [1] is licensed under CC-BY or CC-0, as far as I can tell. They have a partial API. Is this something you can do? JayCubby (talk) 17:15, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @JayCubby, this is an interesting resource!
- I looked through it, however, we have some challenges involved. First of all, we would need to gain all relevant download links (seems doable), in connection with the retrieval of all license information for each video (more challenging). Then, all the videos need to be converted from MP4 to WebM. So, manual input would be needed, and unfortunately, it takes time. Or do we have a link list with all relevant information and access to WebM videos? --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 19:24, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- I don't think there are WebMs provided, so that would definitely be a pain to transcode. File descriptions should be in the enormous media.jsonl files within the zips, but I can open them for about a second before getting OOM errors. Video2Commons works with some manual input for individual files. JayCubby (talk) 20:59, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- @JayCubby Maybe I can look deeper into that tomorrow. It would be useful educational resources, but the transcode is a bit of challenging --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 16:49, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

Photo Challenge: First Aid
[edit]Hallo PantheraLeo,
--PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 13:39, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Presets on Curator
[edit]Hey! I just deployed an update with Presets in beta (limited to you and myself). Could you test it and give me some feedback on how it works and what can be improved? Thanks! Have a great Sunday! -- DaxServer (talk) 10:56, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- The idea of creating a list for presets is a very useful and splendid one! I made a test and experienced one problem. The creating and executing of the preset does work, but I was not able to close (see File:2026-03-01 Curator-Presets Screenshot 2026-03-01 122355.png) the preset window. I tried with clicking by mouse and hitting keys on the keyboard :(. A good sunday and all the best! --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 11:34, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- I fixed that ;) -- DaxServer (talk) 16:13, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- @DaxServer
- Thanks! The list of managable presets is a very splendid idea! I have made some tests. When I click a saved preset File:2026-03-01 Curator – Preset auswählen Screenshot 2026-03-01 212000.png, then only the row with the preset appears (File:2026-03-01 Curator – Preset ausgewählt Screenshot 2026-03-01 212007.png). I suggest that the title template and category field (like here File:2026-02-11 17 08 47 – Curator title template.png) would still appear (after I chose a preset), but depicted with the preset content. This would allow to make smaller changes without changing the original preset or to choose to skip it.
- I fixed that ;) -- DaxServer (talk) 16:13, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
And we have a little bug: When I try to make changes or a preview of the preset, the custom title template (as seen here in the preset name File:2026-03-01 Curator – Preset auswählen Screenshot 2026-03-01 212000.png) falls back to the standard title template. It should still have the preset version. Hope that helps :) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 20:32, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- Super, danke! I'll look into them over the weekend. I'll be at Wikimedia Hackathon Northwestern Europe 2026 next week, I'll most likely work on Curator as well. Perhaps create some tasks in Phabricator that you think would improve the app? Bis dann! -- DaxServer (talk) 16:03, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- Sehr fleißig! First of all, I wish you a splendid time and I will think about some topics :D --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 18:40, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
About MandelBox
[edit]Hey, thanks for upload this awesome work! I been wondering if This image but at 25000x25000 resolution is the original image from Krzysztof? I can't help but notice that the transparent one is brighter which I am not sure if it was edited or has higher color depth. It is really awesome image to benchmarking jxl image codec, if you have the original one please share it with me, Thanks! Will1am xe (talk) 18:22, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Will1am xe Hi! Happy to hear ;). The image is rendered by an example that comes with the software Mandelbulber. If you open the program, you can go to File → Load example... → Krzysztof Marczak collection (here you can see the copyright claim and license of CC BY-4.0) → iter fog 1.fract. If you open the file, the settings are loaded. The creative input of Krzysztof Marczak with is the code and composition is licensed via CC BY-4.0. I made some changes in favor of the higher resolution and with this; you can set and render your preferences and set resolution output format, position, etc. I chose 25000×25000 as original format, because it is a resolution that is rendered in an acceptable duration and has a good quality even in the distant future. Hope this helps ;) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 18:38, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks you! I am aware that it was created from Mandelbulber but I am not so sure of how to use program, and it seem quite demanding too.. good to know it has sample! now I download it and figuring out how to use it, my laptop spiked up everytime I move 😂 Will1am xe (talk) 19:16, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Will1am xe I am sorry, yes, the program should be used with a GPU :D. But at least, the example can be visited as you wish ;) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 19:18, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Hallo PantheraLeo1359531,

Also kurzgesagt: ja, sehe ich so.
--PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 17:38, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
