Temporary account IP viewer granted

There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

• When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
• Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
• Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. Alright, you know what happens to screenshots of proprietary video games on Commons? We work from the assumption that the uploader does not own the right to the screenshot and nominate the file for {{Copyvio}}

However according to the Roblox Terms of Service:

• User-Generated Content (UGC).

Ownership of UGC. Except for Modified Classic Avatars and subject to the rights and licenses Creator grants in these Creator Terms (and any applicable Additional Terms), as between Creator and Roblox or Creator and Users, Creator retains all copyrights that Creator may hold in any UGC that Creator has ever created or will create (whether alone or with others) and Publishes or makes available on the Services (excluding any non-UGC Roblox IP that may be contained therein).

So basically in the case of screenshots of Roblox the copyright are presumed to belong to the uploader unless there is strong evidence to suggest otherwise. Generally speaking when someone uploads a work which they likely own the rights to but on which there is no VRT permission the correct course of action is to tag the file with {{No permission}} rather than nominating it for {{Copyvio}}

So the goal of the template is basically to discourage users from tagging the file with {{Copyvio}} and encourage them to use {{No permission}} and get in contact with the uploader to encourage them to verify their license ownership through VRT to keep the file from getting deleted.

Category:Maps showing data at subnational resolution

I had added that category to a couple of categories and a few files as a redcategory but didn't create it yet. Now you have created it but as far as I can see didn't add any files or subcategories to it. Maybe you had planned to do that at some point.

I deliberately didn't create that category yet because the files and categories included in it are a tiny fraction of that type of files on Commons. It's not good to create a category that is super incomplete because it's 1) not useful and 2) is misleading in that people landing there think that would be nearly all Commons has of that type of file. I don't know if there's a way to find files and categories of that type at scale. Prototyperspective (talk) 18:10, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello @Prototyperspective. Thanks for letting me know, apologies I didn't know it was currently meant to be a redcat. I don't think I can make the category properly complete, so feel free to make it a redcat again.

The recent Khamenei related vandalism you reverted, particularly the nonsense DRs. Plz mark the revisions as patrolled when undoing them. It removes it from the unpatrolled edits list.
