Villa Del Sol: A Growing Community in Cameron County

Villa Del Sol is located about seven miles east of Harlingen and three miles south of Rio Hondo in north central Cameron County. This residential, primarily Hispanic community probably began in the 1990s. The first population figures were available in 2000 when the census reported 132 residents. Villa Del Sol is part of the Rio Hondo Independent School District.
